Well, as we are approaching the hectic Christmas period it is time to start to think about gifts and parties and what are we going to do on Christmas Day.  This is usually a very busy time of year for most people.

However it is hard to imaging that there will be a busier week than the past one.

Remember way back to last Saturday, when we had a Qld state election.  The Palaszczuk government was returned, with a likely small increase in seats.  This puts Annastacia in the running to become the longest serving Labor premier since the second world war.  But they do say that a week is a long time in politics.

Tuesday saw the Reserve Bank cut official interest rates to 0.1% down from 0.25%.  The Governor of the RBA Phillip Lowe suggested that the official cash rate is expected to remain at 0.1 per cent until 2024.  So that means there is likely to be some stability for a while.

In good news the 3 of  major banks (CBA, NAB and Westpac) have announced that they will be passing on this interest rate cut.

Maybe it is worth talking with a mortgage broker to ensure that you have got the best loan for your circumstances.

Also on Tuesday we saw a rank outsider Twilight Payment go to the front of the pack early and lead the rest of the field home to win $4,400,000  for it’s connections. It is very rare for a horse to lead all the way like this but showed enormous courage and determination to claim a memorable victory.

So to Wednesday and the US elections. With the final result still up in the air and no clear winner likely to be declared for a few days, the one certainty is that there will be court actions and more angst for the people of America before things are sorted out.

Lockdowns are being reinstated right across Europe, with the UK going back into a full 4 week lockdown again.  At the same time Victoria are coming out of their lockdown as that have now had 6 days with no new cases.  Congratulations to all of our Victorian friends, they have done a magnificent job to get on top of a situation that was spiralling out of control.

Qld has eased border restriction with NSW with more to come soon.

Also on Wednesday, we say the first State of Origin match played in Adelaide.

Of course the Queensland side started as massive underdogs, and were given no chance to win.  Just the way that we like it, and of course the men in maroon triumphed with an 18 to 14 scoreline.

Congratulations to all involved especially the 7 men how represented Queensland for the first time last night.
